The secret behind Home Shopping Network

Not so long ago I met a woman who left her job at Home Shopping Network to seek a new life in Northern California. I invited her to talk with my lab about what makes HSN so successful. She declined. "It would be a terribly short lecture," she said. "I can tell you the secret right now: Offer something that gives people instant gratification, and let them charge it in three payments." "What else?" I asked. "That's it," she said. "That's the whole secret."
